Elevate Your Service With Seitron Americas' Combustion Analyzers
Nov 08, 2024
Selecting a combustion analyzer for you or your company can be confusing with so many currently available products. Boilearn has taken the time to talk to Seitron Americas and highlight information we know will be helpful if you want to learn more about Seitron Americas and the company's combustion analyzer offerings.
Company History
Seitron is an Italian company that manufactures various products related to the HVACR industry. In 2021, Seitron established the Seitron Americas office in Pennsylvania to support the North American market. Seitron takes great pride in being able to manufacture the components for their combustion analyzers in-house and not having to rely on third parties where quality control can vary.
Combustion Analyzers
Seitron Americas offers a couple of different series of combustion analyzers. The S500 series is their entry-level model, the Novo series is their main offering, and if you need five or more gas sensors, the S6000 and S9000 models are fit for the job. Since the Novo series is Seitron Americas’ most popular and versatile combustion analyzer, we will focus on its ability and features.
Novo Series
Recently introduced within the last two years, the Novo series combustion analyzer aims to bring modern technology to the combustion world. Equipped with a 7” touch screen for ease of use, the Novo series of combustion analyzers is packed with features that will make your job easier. Let's highlight a couple of main features.
Optional Integrated Printer
There is no need to charge a separate printer or fuss with connecting a printer to your analyzer at the end of the day when you just want to go home; the Novo is available with an integrated printer. Since the printer is attached to the analyzer, there is no need to connect it and hope for the best. The printer shares the same power source as the combustion analyzer, so there is no need to charge separate batteries or carry extra disposable batteries for the printer. If you only use the printer function sporadically and want a more compact analyzer, a separate wireless printer is available that will connect to the analyzer.
One Plug Hose Attachment
Removing the need to connect separate hoses and temperature measurement plugs, the Novo series combustion analyzers connect to the flue gas sample hoses with a single plug attachment. The plug integrates all of the connections, making it easy to connect and go and removing confusion about what hose connections go where when connecting to the analyzer.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) Bypass
An automatic CO dilution pump will be enabled if the measured CO level on the combustion analyzer exceeds 500 PPM. This feature protects the CO sensor from saturation, which can ruin the sensor. The feature automatically removes the need for you to closely monitor the measured CO levels when you are actively making air and fuel adjustments.
Pressure Measurement
The Novo includes pressure ports to measure draft pressure, like most combustion analyzers on the market. But in addition to those ports is a -40 - 200 IN WC range pressure measurement port. The integrated pressure sensor removed the need to carry in a separate manometer for measuring pressures such as gas manifold pressure. The measured pressure is also included on the printer reports or the Seitron digitally generated reports, removing the need for extra work to create a report for pressure measurements.
Connectivity
The Novo series of combustion analyzers can connect to a phone or tablet using the Seitron app. The app allows you to remotely view the screen of the analyzer making it great for viewing when the flue gas measurement is farther away from the controls of the equipment. The app can save combustion data and generate combustion reports that can be attached to your service reports for the customer. If you want to use a computer, Seitron also makes computer software that will connect to the combustion analyzer for generating reports. The best part is both the app and software are free for your use, with no purchase or licensing fees.
NOx Measurement Capability
The Novo series combustion analyzers can have more sensors added to them to measure NOx levels in combustion flue gas samples. The Novo 3 model has three sensors, and the Novo 4N model has four sensors. Let's break down the differences.
Novo 3
The extra sensor, in addition to the standard O and CO sensors, is a nitric oxide (NO) sensor. The NO sensor gives the combustion analyzer the ability to measure calculated NOx levels in a flue gas sample. Since 95% of the NOx in the flue gas is in the form of NO, the NO2 can be calculated, and the total NOx measurement can be close to the total NOx.
Novo 4N
If close is not good enough, the Novo 4N is available with a fourth sensor measuring NO2. Instead of calculating the NO2, the fourth sensor will measure the gas, giving a true measured total NOx.
Service and Support
Seitron Americas office is located in Newton, Pennsylvania. The office houses its support staff and service center. Seitron Americas recognizes that having a combustion analyzer out for service can be a major hindrance to the ability to complete field combustion work. That is why Seitron Americas aims to have a 24-48 hour service turnaround time to help get your combustion analyzer back to you. If you have any questions about their products or technical questions, you can call their office or submit a contact form on their website, and their support staff can assist you.
If you are a hands-on person and want to see and feel the combustion analyzer in your hand before you buy, Seitron Americas has a network of dealers that can show you the physical products, answer any of your questions, and help you make a purchasing decision.
